Huey P. Long Bridge over the Mississippi River

Nearby New Orleans Station, the train crosses the Mississippi River on the historic Huey P. Long Bridge. Completed in 1935, the bridge was the first to span the Mississippi River at New Orleans and has a total length of 4.36 miles (7km).

The long approach provides extended views of the river and New Orleans. This crossing occurs during daylight hours on the westbound service toward Los Angeles (departing New Orleans at 9:00 AM), but takes place in darkness on the eastbound service arriving into New Orleans at night. Both sides have great views.
