PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) runs services ranging from budget economy trains to premium intercity expresses. Java's rail corridor connects the major cities of Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya, and Malang — covering roughly 1,000km of track through volcanic highlands, river valleys, and agricultural plains.

The United States rail network relies on Amtrak as its primary operator for intercity and transcontinental passenger service. Spanning 46 of the lower 48 states, the system connects approximately 500 destinations.
